Contemporary
“Contemporary” is a complex concept that refers to both time and a very busy and rapidly changing 20th century. Getting down to the root of things, a favorite pastime at our company, Mies Van Der Rohe espoused an idea that “less is more” in the early part of the 1900’s. Finding the essence of a design let to a simple and austere look that migrated away from decoration and superficiality. Combining that with Japanese and Zen spirituality that embraces both sparse spaces as well as the honest use of materials. A contemporary kitchen is both simple and true to its nature. It is both of the moment and in the moment.
Transitional
If the ornate decorative moldings and profiles of a traditional kitchen are not really your style, but a sparse minimalist look is not either, a transitional kitchen may be what you are looking for. To simplify, but also keep a reference to history and tradition, this is a very good option for many houses today. Square profiles or basic shaped contours combined with flat center panel give you the best of both worlds.
Traditional
Traditional woodworking techniques evolved over centuries found that by making a frame of wood around smaller panels allowed for the expansion and contraction of the door as the seasons changed. This technique of construction lives on and our traditional line of doors offers all of the tried and true profile options. We have put together some typical and popular combinations but if you want that extra bit of customization, head over to our build your own door (BYOD) and build exactly what you want for your new kitchen. We also have a collection of innovative Thermofoil doors, giving you the look of traditional wood cabinetry at an excellent price.
